Mortgage Processor - 313 Branch

This position provides primary administrative support in processing and closing real estate mortgage loans and also assists as required in other loan administration activities. This position supports Credit Union Sales and Service culture by actively promoting and cross selling Credit Union products and services to members.

Essential Duties
• Processes credit bureau request and review findings (e.g. derogatory credit, numerous new accounts, number of inquiries, etc.), on all applications assigned
• Initiates contact with borrower within 24 hours of receipt of application; preferably same day.  Verifies basic information needed and any concerns on the credit bureau preparing for submission to a Secondary Market Automated Underwriting System (AUS)
• Determines if loan will be processed (discussion with superiors may be required), denied or referred to Credit Union mortgage partner. Depending on decision rendered, prepares applicable documentation (federal regulation disclosures, adverse action or referral form) within the three day deadline mandated by Federal Regulations
• Processes completed real estate mortgage loan applications.  Orders supporting documentation such as, title opinions, pest inspections, and employment and financial verifications.  Monitors case file to ensure all documents are received; follows up with information providers as required.  Ensures accuracy of information provided by the borrower at the time of initial application.  All discrepancies are to be changed and the file resubmitted through the AUS and discussed with superiors if changes impact the quality of the loan
• Prepares approved loans for disbursement.  Obtains payoff requirements.  Prepares closing package and coordinates with closing attorney, ensuring delivery deadline to Secondary Market is met
• Performs compliance verification on closed loans. Obtains overdue mortgage releases.  Conducts periodic HELOC reviews
• Other duties and tasks as assigned. This list of essential duties is not exhaustive. It may be supplemented as necessary from time to time

Position Requirements
• Applicants for this position must successfully complete and pass the eligibility requirements for registration under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E Act), which requires Federal Registration under the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.  Applicants at the minimum must furnish the Registry with information concerning the applicant’s identity including: (1) Fingerprints for submission to the FBI and any other relevant governmental state agency for a State and national criminal history and background check; and (2) personal history and experience including authorization for the Registry to obtain information related to any administrative, civil or criminal findings by governmental jurisdiction.  Failure to successfully pass the Registry background screening requirements could result in loss of position and/or employment
• High School Diploma or GED
• Familiarity with DataSafe Loan Navigator System, and Mortgage Loan Origination, Mortgage Servicer and Secondary Market AUS Software
• Ability to read and interpret information on a credit bureau report
• Basic working knowledge of all real estate Federal Regulations
• Thorough understanding of how to accurately price and lock a loan rate for Secondary Market
• Ability to operate a personal computer with a high level of proficiency in such software applications as word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email. Ability to operate a fax, calculator and copier
• Ability to interact effectively with support agencies outside the Credit Union
• Ability to perform successfully under consistent pressure of heavy workload and strict time requirements while maintaining a high accuracy level
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and aggressive with a willingness to support others within the Credit Union
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations
• Ability to effectively communicate Credit Union products and services in order to cross-sell products and services to members

Preferred Skills
• Experience in processing real estate mortgage loans
